Record Payment Vouchers
Payment vouchers record cash and cheque movements — money coming in, money going out, and transfers between your bank accounts. They live under Finance & Accounting → Vouchers, alongside journal vouchers.
The voucher types
| Voucher | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Cash receipt (CRV) | Money received in cash |
| Cash payment (CPV) | Money paid out in cash |
| Cheque receipt (BRV) | Money received by cheque |
| Cheque payment (BPV) | Money paid out by cheque |
| Cash in bank (CBV) | Moving money into a bank account |
Record a voucher
- Go to Finance & Accounting → Vouchers and open the voucher type you need.
- Enter the date, the account (bank or cash), the amount, and a short description.
- If the voucher relates to a customer or supplier — for example, a customer paying an invoice — select the party so the payment applies against their balance.
- Save.
Undoing a mistake
You can't edit or delete a voucher once it's posted. Instead, open it and use Cancel — this reverses the entry and keeps a clean record of what happened. A posted cheque can also be marked Bounced if it doesn't clear.
:::info Approval workflow If your company has voucher approvals turned on, a voucher may need to be checked and approved before it posts. See Turn on voucher approvals for how that works. :::
