Track Fixed Assets
The fixed asset register keeps track of equipment, vehicles, and other capital purchases — what they cost, how they depreciate, and what happens when you eventually dispose of them. This requires the Finance Management add-on.
1. Set up asset categories
- Go to Finance & Accounting → Asset categories.
- Create a category for each type of asset you track, e.g. Vehicles or Office Equipment.
- Set the book and tax depreciation rates for each — these support your reporting and don't run an automatic depreciation posting on their own.
2. Add an asset
- Go to Finance & Accounting → Fixed assets.
- Click Create and enter the cost, purchase date, and category.
- Link it to the original purchase bill if you have one.
- Save.
3. Dispose of an asset
When an asset is sold, scrapped, donated, or written off:
- Open the asset and choose Dispose.
- Select the disposal type — Sale, Scrap, Donation, or Write-off.
- Confirm — this posts the disposal journal for you.
