Clothing Permissions and Troubleshooting
Clothing keeps access simple — there's no separate clothing permission set today.
Permissions, in plain language
| To... | You need |
|---|---|
| See the Clothing menu at all | The Clothing module enabled for your company |
| Use any clothing screen — catalog, fabric, stitching, alterations, alerts, reports | Manage inventory |
If a clothing screen is missing, it's almost always one of these two things — check module activation first, then the Manage inventory permission on your role, under Settings → Users & roles.
Common issues
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing menu is missing entirely | Clothing isn't enabled for your company | Ask an administrator to enable the module |
| Clothing menu shows, but screens inside are blocked | Your role lacks Manage inventory | Ask an administrator to grant it |
| Can't find a tailor to assign | HRMS isn't enabled, or has no employees set up | Tailor pickers pull from HRMS employees — stitching and alterations still work without one, just without a named tailor |
| Roll shows as exhausted but I expected some left | Remaining meters dropped under about 0.1 m | This is the intended threshold — treat it as effectively used up |
| Stock or cost looks wrong after a clothing sale or receipt | Shared with the ordinary inventory ledger | Work through it with whoever manages Inventory — variant and fabric stock live in the same ledger as everything else |
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see Clothing in the menu? Either your company doesn't have Clothing enabled, or your role lacks Manage inventory.
Can I use stitching without fabric rolls? Yes — a line can use customer-provided fabric instead of a shop roll.
Can one product have many barcodes? Yes. A clothing parent generates one variant — and one barcode — per size × color × style combination.
Why is Stock Valuation missing a PDF export? That report is Excel-only today. Every other clothing report supports both Excel and PDF.
Where do brands and collections live? Under Clothing → Catalog, and also as fields directly on the Inventory item form.
