Capture and Qualify Leads
A lead is a prospective customer before you decide they are ready to become a contact, account, or deal. Most sales journeys start here — from a website form, a referral, or a manual entry.
Create a lead
- Go to CRM → Leads and click New Lead.
- Enter the person's name, company, email, phone, and any notes you have.
- Set a source — Website, Manual, Referral, Social, Phone, Trade Show, Email, Import, or Other.
- Assign an owner if it isn't you by default.
- Save. The lead starts as New.
Leads can also arrive automatically from a public form — see Capture leads with Form Builder.
Work the lead through statuses
- Open the lead from CRM → Leads.
- Update status as you progress: New → Contacted → Qualified.
- Use Unqualified, Junk, or Recycled when the opportunity isn't ready or isn't a fit.
- Filter the list by status, source, or owner to focus your queue.
Log early activity
- On the lead detail page, open the timeline or activity section.
- Add a call, meeting, email, or note with an importance level if useful.
- Create a task with a due date so follow-ups don't slip — overdue tasks also appear on the CRM dashboard.
Export the list
Managers and sales admins can export the lead list (CSV) from the list page when their role allows export. Bulk import may be available through your administrator or integration setup — there is no import wizard on the lead list screen today.
:::tip Scoring runs in the background If your admin has set lead score rules under Settings, scores update automatically as lead data changes. You don't recalculate them by hand. :::
