Reconcile Toast Sales and Margins
After daily imports settle, use Reconciliation and the Margin Report to catch mapping gaps, short picks, and cost issues.
Reconciliation
- Go to Toast Integration → Reconciliation.
- Choose the period you care about.
- Compare Toast sales totals to inventory movements created by imports.
- Investigate gaps — often unmapped items, reversed imports, or waste columns missing from the Product Mix export.
Run this weekly during go-live, then on a cadence that matches how often you count stock.
Margin Report
- Go to Toast Integration → Margin Report.
- Review sales vs cost for Toast-imported data.
- Follow up on thin or negative margins — wrong conversion factors and outdated costs are common causes.
- After you fix a mapping or cost, re-import or wait for the next Daily import before judging margin again.
When numbers disagree
| Symptom | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Toast total higher than movements | Unmapped items or skipped short-stock rows |
| Movements higher than Toast | Duplicate import or missing reversal |
| Waste missing | Product Mix export without Waste count |
| Variant stock looks wrong | Conversion factor on the master mapping |
Sync logs and event log
| Page | Use when |
|---|---|
| Sync logs | Manual Sync Now or related API runs need history |
| Event log | Webhooks, order processing, or mapping errors |
These are audit views — they do not replace fixing mappings or re-running Daily import.
:::tip Library qty vs Biznsbook batches Re-uploading a Toast library file does not force Biznsbook batch quantities to match. Use Daily import (sold + waste) and variance approve for operational alignment. :::
