Set Up Kits
A kit is a bundle you sell as one item — a gift set, a starter pack — that deducts stock from its components rather than holding any stock of its own. This is different from Manufacturing, where a work order actually produces a new item.
Set up a kit
- Create or edit a product and set its item type to Kit.
- Save, then reopen Edit and expand Kit Components.
- Add each component — the item and the quantity needed per kit. Mark anything like gift wrap as Optional so a shortage doesn't block the sale.
- If you pack the kit in its own packaging, add a Packaging BOM so that cost and weight roll into the kit's cost.
- Check Sellable qty on the item — it's calculated from the component with the least available stock.
Selling a kit
Add the kit to a sale invoice, POS checkout, or delivery note like any other item. Stock is deducted from its components automatically, and the sale line shows a tooltip listing exactly what will come out of stock.
:::info Don't receive a kit on a GRN Receive the components, not the kit itself. Kits don't hold their own stock and are excluded from inventory valuation and dead-stock reports. :::
Reporting
The Kit sales report, under Inventory Reports, shows kits sold against the component consumption they implied for a given period.
