Trace Lot Genealogy
For companies tracking batches or lots, Manufacturing links a finished lot to the exact raw-material batches that went into it.
:::info Genealogy needs batch tracking on both sides This only populates when both the finished item and the raw materials it consumed have batch tracking turned on, and batch numbers were recorded on the material issue and production entry. Untracked items work fine everywhere else in Manufacturing — genealogy simply has nothing to show for them. :::
Where-from: what made this lot
- Open a completed production entry's details page for a batch-tracked item.
- The Genealogy card loads automatically, listing every raw-material batch — and quantity — consumed to make that finished batch.
- Click Trace further » on any row to follow that raw batch back another step, if it was itself produced from other batches.
Where-used: the recall lookup
Given any raw-material batch, you can look up every finished lot it ended up in — the lookup you need during a recall.
Search by batch number
- Go to Manufacturing → Reports → Lot Trace.
- Enter a batch or lot number and search.
- Open Where-used or Where-from for any matching batch.
Inventory's Traceability screen and the Expiry Tracker's batch detail also link into these same manufacturing traces.
