Add Materials and Carton Types

Add a packaging material

  1. Go to Packaging Materials → Add Material.
  2. Enter a name, a type — Plastic, Glass, Paper, Metal, Composite, or Other — and, if applicable, an SPI resin code (1–7).
  3. Enter the weight (g) of one unit and, optionally, its length, width, and height in millimeters.
  4. Add sourcing details if you have them: unit cost, supplier name, lead-time days, and minimum order quantity.
  5. Set compliance flags: recyclable, recycled-content %, and food-contact approved.
  6. Optionally upload a photo, then Save Material.

Use Edit to update a material, or Toggle to mark it inactive without deleting it — inactive materials still show in warnings on any BOM that references them.

Add a carton type

  1. Go to Carton Types → Add.
  2. Enter a name, optional description, and the internal length, width, and height (mm) — required, since max volume calculates automatically from these on save.
  3. Enter the tare weight (empty carton) and maximum gross weight.
  4. Optionally set a unit cost, mark it as the default carton, and upload a photo.
  5. Save. Use Edit or Toggle to maintain the library.
