Ring Up a Sale

Build the cart

  1. Browse categories, search for an item, or scan a barcode — pressing Enter on a barcode-like code in the search box looks it up directly.
  2. Add lines to the cart and adjust quantity, a line discount, or an order discount if your role allows it.
  3. The cart's tax and total update as you go, closely matching what checkout will actually charge.
  4. Optionally attach a customer — search, or click Last to recall the previous one — for loyalty or purchase history.

Take payment

  1. Choose a payment method: cash (F9), card (F10), or split (F11).
  2. For cash, enter the amount tendered — change is calculated for you.
  3. Click Complete sale.

Completing a sale creates a posted sale bill with an INV-* number, flagged as POS, updates stock, posts the accounting journals, and shows or prints the receipt. If the session is linked to a register, fiscal submission may run automatically, and the cash drawer may pop open on a cash sale if that's turned on for the terminal.

:::info Retrying is safe If a network hiccup interrupts checkout, retrying reuses the same request — you won't accidentally post the same sale twice. :::

Going offline mid-sale

If your browser is offline, or complete fails with a network error, the sale is queued locally with a pending-sync badge and posts automatically once you reconnect — using that same safeguard, so stock isn't deducted twice.

If you refresh the browser mid-sale, the terminal offers to restore your draft cart for that session.

The customer display

A second screen, if connected, shows the running cart total to the customer as you ring items up.
