Restaurant in Biznsbook: An Overview

Restaurant turns your menu into structured, cost-aware recipes, then builds an entire operation on top: theoretical-vs-actual cost tracking, automatic stock depletion on every sale, supplier price intelligence, waste tracking, par-level auto-ordering, menu engineering, floor plans and live tables, a kitchen display system, modifiers, online and QR-table ordering, reservations, and an executive performance view.

It's an operational module — it manages recipes, costing, kitchen operations, and front-of-house, but it doesn't file regulatory returns.

What you can do

  • Build recipes and see their exact food cost and a suggested sale price
  • Compare theoretical vs actual cost of goods sold, nightly
  • Auto-deplete ingredients from stock as POS sales happen
  • Scan supplier invoices into draft purchase bills
  • Get alerted the moment a supplier price jumps
  • Log waste and see how much of your variance it explains
  • Set par levels and auto-generate draft purchase orders
  • See which dishes are Stars, Plowhorses, Puzzles, or Dogs
  • Handle catch-weight items like fish and meat
  • Run a floor plan, live table status, and POS table service
  • Put the kitchen on a screen with the Kitchen Display System
  • Offer modifiers ("no onions", size, add-ons) at the till
  • Take orders through a public online menu and table QR codes
  • Print cost cards, allergen/nutrition labels, and prep sheets
  • Take reservations, run a waitlist, and reward guests with loyalty
  • Review it all on an executive Performance dashboard, with scheduled email digests

Finding your way around

Restaurant appears in the main sidebar for any licensed company with a user who has View restaurant — same place as POS and Inventory. A red badge flags failed stock depletions.

First-run setup wizard

When Restaurant is newly licensed, opening the Dashboard may redirect you to a setup wizard — Welcome, Basics (default food-cost %, time zone, waste approval), an optional first recipe, an optional simple floor plan, and Kitchen (enable KDS and seed default stations). Skip stops the auto-redirect without marking it complete; Complete finishes it. It doesn't create a second settings system — it writes to the same Settings, recipes, floor plans, and KDS stations the rest of the module uses.
