Use DDMRP Buffers

DDMRP (Demand Driven MRP) is an Enterprise-tier alternative to classic reorder points for selected item and warehouse combinations. Planners watch Red / Yellow / Green buffer zones and action suggestions when net flow drops.

Decoupling points

  1. Open Supply Chain Planning → Decoupling Points.
  2. Activate an item + warehouse as a buffer point.
  3. Deactivate when the item should return to classic planning paths.

Active decoupling points are excluded from Tier 1 optimization suggestions and from network (MEIO) item resolution — see Optimize warehouse networks.

Buffer configuration

  1. Open Buffer Configuration.
  2. Set company default Lead Time Factor and Variability Factor categories.
  3. Override per item where planners disagree with the default.

Buffers use closed-form Red / Yellow / Green zone sizing and Net Flow Position (on-hand + on-order − qualified demand).

Buffer board and suggestions

  1. Use Buffer Board daily to see Red / Yellow / Green status (Net Flow Position vs zone tops).
  2. Open DDMRP Suggestions when replenishment is recommended (typically when NFP crosses Top of Yellow).
  3. Action or Dismiss — Action uses the same purchase-requisition path as other Supply Chain suggestions. Continue in Purchase as needed.
  4. Red-zone penetration raises Exceptions via the daily buffer-monitoring job — see Work exceptions.

:::info Human-in-the-loop DDMRP suggestions are advisory. They do not silently create purchase orders. :::
